Today I visited the New Hope Cambodia organization. This place touched my heart. Reminding me of the beautiful girls at the Home of Hope Orphanage in India. We arrived by Tuk-Tuk down red dirt roads of back side streets and alleyways. New Hope Cambodia. Only a true saint of heart to provide such selfless acts for others. One man. Many hopes. True desire.
Created from a straw hut to teach English and Japanese to children. For free. A man who sold all he had to create a classroom to provide free education to children. Many children fall victim to human-trafficking. Many women fall victim to sex-trafficking. Whether the poverty of the streets or the death of a parent, or the illness of HIV, Kemsour decided to break the cycle.
A class that was once of 35 children grown to be 300 families. We spoke with an advocate of the New Hope who was raised in the foundation as a child. A lovely and charming man with a soft heart and fueled with motivation. We arrived to the foundation whilst children say “Hello!” with a big smile and waving hand. No beggars among this road. Only those seeking to earn their living in traditional manor. All students love education. Prefering to learn as opposed to other activities. If the education is free, then even better! These children were so enticing and happy it brought a warm smile straight to my face. The little girls sang two choice songs for us in English . . . adorable! Smiles and childish essence that just melted my heart. Such kind children.
As time went on, donations were received and hard work was put in to turn the old New Hope into a new New Hope just four mins or so down road. Expanded classes now include computer programs, restaurant services, music and singing classes, along with sewing and cooking. Skills that are common and job friendly to the Cambodian community. Siem Reap in time will continue to build itself back up from the falls they have once had. Creating stronger communities and prioritizing education.
